Frank and Dottie Brigante opened Brigante’s Snack Bar in Colchester, Vermont 20 years ago, operating on a seasonal basis, and immediately established a loyal and enthusiastic following based on their original Michigan meat sauce. This signature Michigan meat sauce is their own blend of quality spices, cooked with lean ground beef and served primarily on hot dogs (Michigans) and hamburgers (Michburgers), their top-selling menu items.
Because the snack bar is closed during Vermont’s long winter season, many of Frank and Dottie’s regular customers asked them to package their original spice blend so that they could make the meat sauce at home. Frank & Dottie began assembling their Michigan spice packets in their kitchen more than 15 years ago and distributed them to a few local Vermont markets and by mail order for customers who have left the area. The ingredients are top quality, instructions are clear and simple and the resulting meat sauce can be enjoyed in many ways, in addition to Michigan hot dogs. Frank and Dottie have received kudos from many buyers saying they love using the sauce in shepherd’s pie, tacos, pizza, omelets, pasta and potatoes. The spice packets come in two sizes, a small packet for family use and a large size for caterers, restaurants and large family gatherings.
